ABOUT

I am Astrid R. Kincaid, founder of ARK Prospect Intelligence. For seventeen-plus years, I have worked at the point where data and relationships meet, translating one into the other for fundraising teams. That translation work is really what I do best. I can take what a database is telling you and explain it in terms a fundraiser can act on, and I can take what a fundraiser knows about a relationship and turn it into something a system can track. The same goes for strategy: I take complex research, financial detail, and organizational history, and translate it into a clear next step. I have worked across a wide range of CRMs over the years, and what matters most to me is not any one platform, but making sure the people using it can get what they need out of it.I like building relationships with fundraisers directly, sitting down to strategize, not just handing over a report. I also like understanding an organization's mission well enough to picture who its average donor actually is, since that shapes everything from how you screen a prospect to how you frame an ask. I do not mind going deep into a rabbit hole when a prospect's story calls for it, but I try never to lose sight of the bigger campaign picture while I am down there.I have led prospect development work for Tulane University, the University of Houston, Holocaust Museum Houston, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.Today I work with nonprofit and higher education advancement teams as an independent consultant, taking on major gift pipeline strategy, wealth screening and capacity rating methodology, campaign infrastructure, and moves management. I work with organizations of every size, from small nonprofits building a prospect program for the first time to large institutions running multi-year campaigns.I hold a B.A. from the Free University Berlin and an M.A. from Tulane University. I currently serve on the APRA Florida board as Chief Information Officer, where I work alongside prospect development professionals across the state on the standards and practices that keep our field moving forward.I am based in Jacksonville, Florida, and I work with clients across the country.
